The Coast Guard will be holding a virtual meeting about the new Final Rule (FR) entitled, “Implementation of the Amendments to the International Convention on Standards of Training, Certification and Watchkeeping for Seafarers, 1978 (STCW), as Amended, and Changes to National Endorsements.” This Final Rule makes necessary changes to our regulations for clarification and needed updates. In an effort to provide a clear understanding on the new regulations, the Coast Guard will be holding a virtual meeting to present the major areas of change in national regulations and implementation of those changes. The virtual meeting will take place on January 23, 2014, from 10 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. Eastern time. Attendance can be via the internet or by teleconference, or by both. If joining via the internet, go to the following website: https://connectcol.dco.dod.mil/r47d79awoig/ and choose the “Enter as a Guest” option. Access to the internet site for the visual part of the meeting will not be restricted. Please note that during this meeting, no specific questions will be answered. The Coast Guard will accept questions via internet chat during the meeting and via e-mail submission at [email protected]. Responses will be incorporated into the STCW FAQs located on the National Maritime Centers (NMC) webpage, uscg.mil/nmc/default.asp
