The Coastal Pathway is now a reality. The inauguration will take place on Wednesday 12th of November at 11am at the El Bombo Beach. The final details have been finished this week. In July the Mayor of Mijas, Ángel Nozal, along with the president of the Provincial Council of Málaga, Elias Bendodo, became the cornerstone of one of the most ambitious projects of the Governing Team during the current legislature: the Coastal Pathway. An infrastructure with a cost of two million euros, which connects, through a pathway and sandy stretches, the six kilometres that separate La Cala de Mijas with the neighbouring town of Marbella. During the symbolic ceremony held on the La Luna beach, a deadline was set for the delivery of this infrastructure in late October, early November. And it will be fulfilled, because on Wednesday, November 12th, at 11am, the coastal pathway will be inaugurated at El Bombo Beach, after four months of intense work. To the surprise of the local government, the pathway is already being used by residents and tourists who take advantage of the almost summery weather in our area for walking and sporting activities on the sections already installed. “I see that before finishing the work, the Coastal Path is a success because people use it. They are raving about it and it has generated many positive comments. Actually, it gives us a totally new perspective of our town”, assured the Councillor for Town Planning, Manuel Navarro. Profiling the last details During this week, the company in charge of constructing the pathway has been conducting several actions at various different points along the coast. One area is finca la Meca. “Here we are going to immediately start re-planning where the installation of the pathway will run. All the material is here and as soon as they have finished staking, the pathway can be installed”, assured the councillor. On this stretch, Manuel Navarro, said that “we are adjusting to what the Coastal Department rules. The installation of the path must comply with all legislation. This means that we will have to make some small alterations to raise the path and avoid the shorelines. In any case, the change will be interesting because we will enter an area of low scrub pines and this will give even more of a charming character to the path”. Work is also taking place in Las Mimosas, where the experts are leveling the land. “We are having to move the manholes and cables that are in this area to take them down and thus the path will run above all of this”, stated the Councillor for Town Planning. We just need to finish the connection between the stream of La Cala and the Torreón, “where the construction company and operating services are working together”, said Navarro, in the construction of a footbridge that will run over the sand.
