The Colonel Has Departed. My friend, Comrade-In-Arms, and Special Forces Brother, Robert L. Howard, departed his body 23 December 2009. - An outstanding Homo Sapiens has fallen. Former member of the 5th SFG, (Airborne), Colonel Howard departed his human body. From the Vietnam War, on to Iraq, and, Afghanistan, an exemplary Human Being has gone. - Bob Howard, is missed, remembered, and acknowledged for his selfless contribution to fellow Americans. - Deus det tibi gaudium nostrum, - Pax, (שָׁלוֹם) Shalom Memorial Day, May 2014. This time of the year many of us veterans are stricken with grief, sadness, and a sense of loss for those we care about, whom, however, are no longer present in physical form, thus theres an increase in patient admissions right about now at Veteran Hospitals Nationwide; it is to those and the fallen I dedicate these words: - Hymn to the Wind of the Galaxies, Thank you Comrades, to those called upon to commit 神風 , ‘hara-kiri,’ tradition dating back to 721 A.D., I honor your adherence to Samurai Life and Bushido, Death instead of defeat, capture, and perceived shame; loyalty and honor until death. Moreover, I honor as well, each and every one that, without regard for self, sacrificed life, so that we remained among the living. Expressed herein is gratitude. Thank you for permitting me to serve amongst you. You are with me today in Spirit, and I cherish the memories. - As a former U.S. Special Forces Operative, and Disciple of Japanese ‘Bushido,’ my thoughts reach out from the Physical Universe into the realm of nothingness, the essence of life itself, into the Universes occupied by my fellow Spiritual Beings, and convey this thought to all fallen Combatants, Comrades, and those still among us in this Physical Universe.
