The Computational Science for Undergraduate Research Experiences - TopicsExpress

The Computational Science for Undergraduate Research Experiences (CSURE) summer internship at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, and Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL) is now in week six of the 10-week program. The aim is to provide students with the knowledge and skills they need to begin using high-performance computing for research. CSURE is a National Science Foundation Research Experience for Undergraduates, or REU, conducted by the Joint Institute for Computational Sciences (JICS), located at UT and Oak Ridge National Laboratory. The program is made up of 10 college students from across the U.S., who are joined in their activities by four summer interns from the Chinese University of Hong Kong. Today, the students have been presenting three-slide project summary presentations to one another and CSURE mentors. Their projects are focused on subjects in atmospheric sciences, chemistry and materials sciences, engineering mechanics, numerical libraries on emergent platforms, and systems biology.
