The Concern: Too many cats and dogs are being destroyed or euthanize each week in the Upper Snake River Valley. Most of these animals are healthy and adoptable, and only need to find a forever home. There are simply is not enough room in the local city-run facilities to house them long enough to find that home. Our community needs a nonprofit shelter that educates or programs to alleviate the problem of too many UNWANTED domestic animals. The Solution: The Snake River Animal Shelter (SRAS) is committed to drastically reducing that number and to promoting quality care and compassion to domestic animals. SRAS is pursing three paths to achieve this mission: 1. Providing strong education , spay/neuter, and adoption programs to help decrease the number of unwanted animals. 2. Building and operating a larger and more pet-friendly shelter facility allowing animals more time to be adopted. 3. Supporting pet owners by providing a variety of pet service and operating a community dog park. Over 5,000 dogs and cats are euthanize each year.
