The Counsellor. - Excellently delivered fatalistic tale, full of cool style and careful revelations. Quite an array of cinema heavyweights, lend themselves to this uneasy art piece, with Michael Fassbender, Penelope Cruz, Cameron Diaz on wicked form, Javier Bardem and Brad Pitt in one of his excellent understated shady roles. Ridley Scott, as always, delivers perfected imagery, cultivating a weird heightened reality, that reveals only what it needs to as it spins its oddly humorous tale. It certainly provoked very different opinions, after the screening, some negative, but I have to be honest, I enjoyed the experience. Cormac McCarthys story allows the audience to gradually interpret the relationships and understand the plot, without any obvious hammering home of the information. The end delivers all that the beginning sets up. Definitely worth a look.
