The Department of Land Use Services is recruiting for Land Use Technician Trainees who learn to process land use and construction permit applications, interpret and explain codes, ordinances and regulations to the public, and research data, as well as collect related fees. Incumbents work under close supervision while receiving training and acquiring the knowledge and abilities necessary for promotion to Land Use Technician. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS EXPERIENCE (must meet one of the following Options): OPTION 1: One (1) year of experience working in a public agency environment with responsibility for processing permit applications for, or enforcing, code compliance related to land use, building, construction, fire, environmental, or other code regulations, which includes explaining related regulations and requirements to the public. OPTION 2: One (1) year of experience with a primary responsibility of working with parcel maps to conduct title/property searches, for the purpose of identifying specific properties, ownership or allowable uses. OPTION 3: Fifteen (15) semester (or 23 quarter) units of completed college coursework in urban development, building inspection technology, code enforcement, land surveying or a closely related field.
