The Creator or the Universe, or both, seem to like folk music. And even better, they seem to like my current decisional trajectory. For the last 8 years, life’s been generous in providing a rich concoction of introspective emotional and rational exercises, and most of them result in artistic ammunition; a rollercoaster of internal volatility I’m grateful for 51% of time. But it taxes the body, like having one eye constantly secured to the ocular of a microscope. However, the fruit of the laboratory labor is the following moment—that is, ‘getting to experience it’. The way I see it, regardless of your construct of destiny and determinism; or faith and free will, confirmatory elements can come by coincidence or intentionality- both means offering a validating nod and a comforting rub on the metaphysical shoulder as we journey to life’s uncertain ends. While last night was not the first time, it was one of the most potent (and cutest, I might add!). Enjoying a slice of Anchorage’s Annual Folk Festival, ‘The Brubaker Family’ treated me to one such metaphysical nod, in the form of a unique performance of—can you guess?
