The Credit card declining incident of Obama is buzzing around the social network . It reminds me of another incident far more relevant to Indian circumstances. Lyndon B Johhnson was the occupant of the White House and John K Galbraith (one time US Ambassador to India) was serving white house as an Economic advisor. Galbraith returned from a tiring journey, and retired to bed. His instruction to his house maid was, to not to wake him for any phone calls. Soon thereafter LBJ called over telephone and wanted to speak to Galbraith. The maid responded by saying that Galbraith was fast asleep and he had instructed her to not to wake him for any calls. LBJ tried to exert himself and told the maid to wake him and tell him that the President of USA was calling. The housemaid replied, “Sorry Sir, my salary is paid by Mr Galbraith and not the president of USA. Hence I am not going to wake him and give your message”. Later when Galbraith met the president, he was told , “Please send her to White House I need such people in my staff. “
