The Crest Theatre & MNM Productions To Hold Open Auditions for A CHORUS LINE Kicking Off the 25th Anniversary of the Delray Beach Center for the Arts Open Auditions for Landmark Dance Musical Will Be Held on Monday, April 21, at 1 p.m. (Delray Beach, FL – March 14, 2014) The Crest Theatre and MNM Productions today announced that open auditions will be held on April 21 for the landmark musical A CHORUS LINE, which will kick-off the 25th anniversary season of the Delray Beach Center for the Arts. The show is being directed by Kimberly Dawn (KD) Smith, who not only appeared in A CHORUS LINE on Broadway, she is one of only a handful of choreographers personally entrusted by Director / Choreographer Michael Bennett to carry on his original vision. Evan Farrar is serving as Musical Director for this production, which is scheduled to run for 12 performances (December 5-14). WHAT: Open auditions for all roles will be conducted in the same Broadway style as reflected throughout the Tony Award-winning show, A CHORUS LINE. WHEN: Monday, April 21 + Sign-in begins at 1 p.m. + Dance call begins at 2 p.m. WHERE: Crest Theatre 51 N. Swinton Avenue in Delray Beach REQUIREMENTS: Any one auditioning needs to come prepared with: + Appropriate dancewear, including Character Shoes + A song from the show Performers should plan on staying until they are released because the audition will be run in the tradition of A CHORUS LINE: Dance call, followed by song, with readings from the script. The times for singing will be based on time of sign-in that day. NOTES: + A CHORUS LINE is the sixth longest-running show in Broadway history, with music by Marvin Hamlisch, lyrics by Edward Kleban and book by James Kirkwood, Jr. and Nicholas Dante. Centered on 17 Broadway dancers auditioning for spots on a chorus line, the musical is set on the bare stage of a Broadway theatre during an audition for a musical. The award-winning show provides a glimpse into the personalities of both the performers and the choreographer as they describe the events that have shaped their lives and their decisions to become dancers. + This will be a non-equity, professional production, with pay. There is a possibility that two of the roles might be filled under equity Guest Contracts. + KD Smith will be bringing to the audition the shiny top hat that she wore when she was playing “Val” in the glittery finale of A CHORUS LINE on Broadway.
