The Cross 1) The cross is a symbol of death. It symbolizes Jesus physical death for our sin and our death to self and sin. Luke22:42 -- Father, if it is Your will, take this cup away from Me; nevertheless not My will, but Yours, be done. 2) To take up the cross means to willingly give ones life without reservation to Jesus and follow in His steps even to death, for His sake, if necessary. Math 16:24 --- Then Jesus said to His disciples, If anyone desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross and follow Me. 3) If you hold on to your old life, you will never fully embrace the life Jesus died to give you. Thus you will end up missing Gods plan for your life. However if you willingly die to self, you will experience Gods best for your life, and Gods best is far better than anything you could ever come up with. 4) The bible teaches us to nail our desires to the Cross and leave them there. 5) St. Paul exhorts us to embrace Gods Grace and to walk in Gods unconditional love. Because of Gods Grace we can supernaturally die to self and live for Christ. Ask Jesus what He wants from you and be brave ---- Pope Francis **********
