The Cross. The Intersection. Hey this is the Chaplain again. In the Bible the Apostle Paul said “I will boast only about the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ” (Gal. 6:14) and for two thousand years the cross has served as the universal symbol of Christianity. You see it everywhere and everybody knows what it stands for. But if you think about it, it’s an odd choice. Doesn’t it seem strange to you that an instrument of torture would come to represent a movement of hope? Its design couldn’t be simpler; one beam horizontal stretches out like God’s love for everyone in the world. The other vertical beam pointing us up to God’s holiness. One represents the width of His love; the other the height of His holiness. The cross is the intersection. The cross is where God forgave all who would repent yet without lowering His standards. God treated His Son as a sinner, so that Christ could make us acceptable to God. Why would He do it? John 3:16 sums it up, “God so loved the world...” Aren’t you glad the verse doesn’t read: God so loved the rich, or the famous, or the good people, or the sober or successful? No, it simply reads: “God so loved the world...” Do you realize that includes every person that ever has or ever will live? That’s a lot of love. But more importantly – that includes You! Even if you’ve blown it – again; He loves you. You don’t have to earn it; in fact you can’t. You don’t have to deserve it, you never will. You just have to receive it – receive Him. John 1:12 tells us “But to all who received Him (the Lord Jesus Christ), he gave the right to become children of God.” Have you personally experienced that? Maybe that’s something for you to pray about. If you’d like to talk to someone about spiritual things, you can always call Chaplain Paul at (479) 264-6146, or email: chaplain.northcut@gmail . I’d love to talk and pray with you, anytime. May the Lord, Jesus Christ, d
