The Cross is like the bosom of Abraham in the old gospel song--so high, so low, so wide, we cant get round it. The only way out is through. The Cross will appear on any path we choose in life. We need to die to self in order to be born again from above--thats the law, the law of love. We cant have the joy of the Resurrection if we will not accept death on a cross. We dont do this alone. It is not a test we have to pass, like the bar exam, before we are admitted to the company of the saints. The Father sends the Son and Spirit into our hearts while we are still unworthy and unconverted in order to empower us to complete the good work He has begun in us.
