The Curse of the Coon Hound Im going to share a story/testimony - TopicsExpress

The Curse of the Coon Hound Im going to share a story/testimony of my husbands. Most things are either a blessing or curse. Satan will use the very dearest things to our heart and turn them into a curse, in order to keep us from prospering in the Kingdom of God. Arbie use to love his coon dogs. He done very well with the sport and owned all the new tracking collars, lights, and even had shelves lined with trophies where his dogs won competitions. They were even featured in some kind of Hunting magazine. However there was a flip side to it also. At the time he had been in Church for a couple years. He said that he started noticing that his walk was growing cold and indifferent. He feared Satan was trying to pull him back out into the world. Much of his time was consumed around his kennel and those coon hounds. He was traveling to hunts on Saturday nights and wouldnt make it back in until the wee hours of Sunday morning. Who would want to drag on into Church after laying out all night? Not him and he wasnt. He was however going other nights so he didnt think much about it. He still loved God so what could possibly be wrong? Well he also noticed a few other problems. He said on one occasion there was a disagreement came up with another man at a hunt. He lost his temper and words was exchanged between them. He knew that it was not the example a Christian man would want to set for other nonbelievers. Arbie feared God and he didnt want to stray away to be prey for the devil, so he started praying. Lord, remove any thing in my life that stands between you and I. A couple weeks later he went out with his buddies on a hunt. His dog started treeing a coon, he begin to follow her to the tree. They were in hot pursuit of that ole coon. His dog was firey, loyal and very smart he said. She was the best he ever had. The coon ran up the tree and the dog followed. This dog would actually hit the tree running so fast and hard that she would half way climb the tree herself. This time was different. She hit the tree and and fell backwards breaking her neck instantly. Arbie was devastated. He said that He grieved and cried over that dog for weeks. It crushed him so bad that in his heartache he started to think about it all. What if he loved Gods people as much as he loved that coon dog. Why shouldnt we grieve and cry over the ones we see around us headed for destruction and death. He remembered his prayer. What had been standing in the middle of him and God? Why had his walk became cold? It was clear. God showed him and answered him. Not all our prayers will be answered with us being handed a big present tied with a big red bow tied around it. Many of our lessons and blessings may follow heartache and tears. Lets just be wise to learn the first time so we dont continue to bring heartache upon ourself. Not long after that he sold out everything he owned pertaining to coon hounds. Then God called him to preach! God never expects us to give up anything without replacing it with something greater. If youve recently suffered loss, pray and evaluate it. Main thing is be like Job. Dont charge God foolishly! He loves us and he is not a mean God but he will do whatever it takes to open our eyes and especially if we are asking. God loves you and so do I. Have a great day!!!
