The #Cypriots in the #disapora and the #repatriated Cypriots in #Cyprus are the focus of the Diaspora Centre Trust led by Maria #Roussou. She has researched the Cypriot diaspora across the planet and when describing the #Australian Cypriots, she describes their #migration experience as a lot easier than other Cypriot migrants. Roussou’s research has showed that education played a key role in maintaining the #language and #culture in the diaspora: “where education in general accepted the #migrant experience and the languages of the community, the community felt stronger and therefore held onto their roots more.
