The DARA syndrome... We are in the age of evidence based medicine .. Every statement in medicine has to undergo trials bt my experience in th last few months had been totally disappointing when i came across a number of patients admitted at skims vd fulminant hepatitis... To my surprise most of the patients had earlier gone to a peer at some place called dara. The person /peer at dara has inherited the knowledge frm his father who is the founder of dara . The practice some form of healing which is totally unscientific unknown to any 1 ,even themselves. He gives his patients some sort of sharbat/herbal solution . One patient of ours hd the same course ,she was a 16yr old girl admittd to skims recently with fulminant hepatitis.. A battery of relevant test were negative to her etiology. Only pointer to her diagnosis was she had gone to dara and drank the same sharbat for one month. Liver biopsy done as a last resort was suggestive of drug induced hepatitis in her who has taken no medicine other than sharbat.. To every doc.. Spread the msg abt dara as kashmiris follow such people blindly .. U can b the nxt victim.. ..adm med..
