The DENR and DOT are collaborating once again in hosting the second Naturalist Ecoguiding Training in the Davao Region the first of which, was for the Mt. Apo, and currently for the Mt. Hamiguitan Wildlife Range Sanctuary in Davao Oriental - the 6th UNESCO World Heritage Site in the Philippines. Participants are from the City of Mati and the Municipalities of San Isidro and Governor Generoso and will go through a packed 7-day program composed of lectures and practical application. This training is one of several major prerequisites to the conditional opening of the mountain range. Mount Hamiguitan was found to fulfill a criterion proving its Outstanding Universal Value, which celebrates “the most important and significant natural habitats for in-situ conservation of biological diversity, including those containing threatened species of outstanding universal value from the point of view of science or conservation.” A facsimile site or interaction center located at the foot of the mountain in San Isidro is in the offing to ensure that preservation and protection efforts remain the top priority.) #mthamiguitan #davaoriental #sanisidro #governorgeneroso #mati #UNESCO #protection #preservarion #endemism #mindanao #peace
