The Daily Flash were one of the early San Francisco bands that just missed national fame, though in the very early days of the Haight Asbury coverage they were mentioned in the same breath as Jefferson Airplane, Quicksilver Messenger Service, Grateful Dead, etc. Part of their problem was they had no strong songwriter in the band, but this single from 1966 shows they had the chops to make it. Their most famous alum is Doug Hastings, who briefly replaced Neil Young in The Buffalo Springfield (he played at Monterey) and was later part of the Elektra supergroup Rhinoceros.
