The Dalai Lama does not need to call for independence, since Tibet - TopicsExpress

The Dalai Lama does not need to call for independence, since Tibet actually has independence, historic, moral, and legal. It always has been independent & always will be a free highland under the vast sky, ringed with high snow peaks, where only people with special genes can be comfortable with the lack of oxygen at almost three miles of altitude. Their independence is not only in the minds of all living Tibetans, including the Dalai Lama, but also in the minds of anyone who has seen through the propaganda and the diplomatic lies of present governments and done even cursory research into the history and the issues under international law. Just because the Chinese have troops and colonists there, that does not mean that the Chinese occupation has legitimacy, that their preposterously false historical claims can ever convince anyone. The Chinese keep shouting that the Dalai Lama really wants independence, even though he keeps repeating: autonomy, autonomy, autonomy within China. The Chinese are giving the Dalai Lama more credit than do the Tibetan patriots who are thinking he has betrayed their right of independence. Actually, the Dalai Lama does not need to want independence- he knows that his country already has it. It is just not being respected by the Chinese nor by the other world powers who cater to them. Everyone should have independence, including the Chinese. Robert AF Thurman from Why The Dalai Lama Matters: His Act of Truth as the Solution for China, Tibet & The World
