The Day Before Christmas The stockings are already hanging on the mantle. Each one is red and labeled with a particular name, With love and care, filled to the top. Not one the same. Gifts, gaily wrapped in colored papers lay beneath The Christmas tree. They silently wait for the moment Of expected excitement and joyous merriment. The shiny ornaments are hanging on its branches. Some are new, some old, and some quite antique. Each has an interesting story, if only they could speak. The tree lights are clear, they shining ever so bright, They reflect the story, the glory of that long ago night. A baby was born, Jesus was his name, he the Christ. The angel, on top of the tree, holds a lighted candle. Humbled, she is the symbol of one who announced the birth Of the Messiah, our Savior, the King come to earth. Praises of adoration and honor to him belong. The wrappings, the ribbons, and even the songs Depict, illustrate the joy we share by giving to others. The night is called Christmas by those who believe. It represents not the date, but the birth of our King. May we now open our hearts and to him sing.
