The Day I Learned to Cook Rice for Hundreds! #OnAMission2014. Tacloban. Day1. What a fulfilling, but physically demanding day! I travelled to Tacloban with another pastoral assistant from the church, Bro. Don, and we arrived 6am at Tacloban this morning. We just took a quick breakfast and headed to the kitchen to familiarize ourselves to the duties. Yes, we are on kitchen duty today. Something that my wife was amused to know. I learned to clean rice efficiently (I think my wife would love to see that), and learned how to cook them to perfection in these especially large rice cookers that can feed hundreds in one go, while cleaning utensils in between. After the rice cooked, we would empty them in rice boxes and clean all those huge pots again for another batch of rice cooking. I did it for 16 batches, I think. Thats a first Ill never forget! We then headed out to two locations. Bro. Don was placed at Palo Elementary, while I was placed at San Jose Elementary School. Hundreds of kids came. In this specific school, we had 3 stations setup for the feeding. We were able to feed more than 250 kids in my station alone. What a blessing it was to witness all those children fed and ministered to. Tonight, we carried 30 sacks of rice from the truck at church and delivered to the kitchen. It will be used tomorrow for another feeding program for kids. It was tiring, but God strengthened me to accomplish whatever they would want us to help with. I saw that, as God had given as example, we should really do move by faith and not by need. When you have a heart that wants to help, that cares for people, you are the right tool for the job. God will skillfully make use of you in all His wisdom. You are a moldable tool that can be a blessing in many situations. That is evident here, as I see all these colaborers in Christ serving with all their hearts for Gods children. I am more than honored to be a witness to it AND be a part of it I am excited for Gods greater in the days that are ahead. God is the One #rebuildingTacloban! After all the hype has gone down, and most of the world looking at somewhere else, it is most assuring to know that God has never ever left Tacloban. And He is faithful to finish what He started here! #Jesus #touchingPEOPLE #changingLIVES
