The Day after Christmas finds me so grateful for some long awaited - TopicsExpress

The Day after Christmas finds me so grateful for some long awaited things that FINALLY got done. To some, they may seem trivial, but to me, they are HUGE! The one thing I have wanted in this log home was to have Christmas lights and full framing of formers and roof, railings and walkway. Budget just did not allow it. But this year, a kind gentleman, local to this Village and his Nephew did me the honors. Even just having my big front Windows framed makes the house look so much more homey and fits better into a neighborhood wherein most houses are decorated. I was beginning to feel like Scrooge!! And hoping they would not start saying Bah Humbug to me!! Haha! The next thing I had done was to move my treadmill to my loft/workout area! When I moved here, the folks that helped me move could not disassemble it and move it upstairs. Just too complicated and too heavy! Its a large unit and always took up so much of rhe Living Room that it was actually an eyesore of sorts. Today, I just gained 10 of floor space. Love it! The third much BIGGER thing was when the Sears Tech came to clean out my vents and test fire my heating unit! The Builder never cleaned them out for me and for 16 mos I have not had the warmth of heating system til today. No big deal for most of the year as the house is fairly well insulated, but these past three months when temps at night were dipping into the 30s, I was getting quite cold and just bundled up to save on costs! This first test fire was more than a simple service charge and I had dogs and other expenses that took priority. All vents needed to be vacuumed out, disinfected and tested. Took 4 hrs! And the main heating unit, a permanent filter was never installed so that piece had to be ordered too! So, as of this post, we now have heat! Tears of gratitude and joy abound. My aching muscles and stiff bones are happy and cozy once more. And the doggies need less blankies now too. All in all, a good day! And for all, I am grateful
