The Dayton Flyers are 3-6 all-time against Ohio State. They last played in the 2008 NIT. Among the connections between the two teams, Archie Miller coached at Ohio State in 2008-09, and Dayton junior Jordan Sibert played his first two seasons for the Buckeyes before transferring to Dayton. “I didn’t expect it,” Sibert said on the radio, “but now it’s what I want.” This will be UD’s 15th appearance in the big dance. It is 14-16 overall and last made the field in 2009 when it beat West Virginia 68-60 in the first round and lost 60-43 to Kansas in the second round. The Flyers last advanced to the Sweet 16 in 1984 and also advanced that far in 1974 and 1967. They played in the national championship game in 1967, losing 79-64 to UCLA. This is Dayton’s sixth appearance in the last 25 years. It reached the second round in 1990 and lost in the first round in 2000, 2003 and 2004.
