The De Queen School District will lose over 400 years of combined experience with the retirement this school year of 17 educators and school employees. The retirements were accepted over the last two meetings of the De Queen School District, and school officials say they will be hard to replace. The employees retiring this year include Elementary teacher Johnnie Brock (21 years with the district), Primary School teacher Edna Carlton (22 years), Middle School teacher Judy Clowers (21 years), Lockesburg Elementary teacher Kathryn Coulter (25 years), Junior High School English teacher Brenda Dickerson (eight years), High School Home Economics teacher Peggy Hill (17 years), High School EAST Lab teacher Marybeth Harmon (41 years), High School chemistry teacher Sandra Jackson (34 years), Assistant Superintendent Judi Jenkins (27 years), High School English teacher Lauren Lindsey (15 years), Middle School Social Sciences teacher Marsha Lofton (20 years), High School special education teacher Karen Trammell (36 years), District Treasurer Joyce Wagner (28 years), Middle School counselor Gail Greene (10 years), High School aide Pat James (24 years), Middle School math teacher Joan Scott (31 years) and Junior High librarian Cathy Seal (29 years). Combined, the retiring educators have a total combined experience of 409 years.
