The Deads participation in San Francisco poster art has long been a staple of museum and gallery exhibitions, and a wonderful new exhibition is up at the San Francisco International Airport. Called When Art Rocked: San Francisco Music Posters, 1966-1971, the exhibit was curated by Ben Marks, who wrote a fine essay on it, below. Its great to see the Deads iconography represented as part of the much broader story of San Francisco poster art. And for those interested in more on the Deads own participation in that tradition, opening shortly will be an exhibit at the San Jose State library featuring an even more detailed look at the Deads artistic impact on posters and beyond; more on that soon. ~ Nicholas
