The Dec. 10 meeting and hearing to consider a waste treatment - TopicsExpress

The Dec. 10 meeting and hearing to consider a waste treatment facility in Falls Township was packed to overflow with area residents, Elcon and DEP representatives, and members of the LWVPA and the Delaware Riverkeepers Network. Questions were raised about the lack of notice to some of the municipalities that would be impacted, lack of specifics with regard to materials to be treated, and potential impact on water supply if even a small amount of toxic chemicals were accidentally released. As always, LWVPA will continue to work for an open and transparent permitting process, for adequate public notice and input, and for the right of citizens to clean air and water. LWVPA will be submitting detailed comment, but members and other concerned citizens are also urged to supply comment to the DEP. Written comments should be sent to: Hazardous Waste Facility Siting Team Leader, Department of Environmental Protection, 2 E. Main St., Norristown, PA 19401. The deadline is Dec. 26.
