The Defense and Prosecution finished their testimony and - TopicsExpress

The Defense and Prosecution finished their testimony and cross-examination today of Cecily McMillan. Cecily started the day on with the continuation of her testimony and about 1 hour in to the proceedings today, the ADA, Erin Choi started cross-examination of Cecily’s story. It seemed that Choi’s goal was the discredit Cecily’s testimony by insinuating 3 things: 1. That Cecily’s right breast was not bruised, because she did not talk about this to doctors at the first 3 hospitals she went to 2. That Cecily wasn’t really in pain over the incident, due to the ‘pain-level assessment’ that she was given at every hospital 3. That she was awake and lucid the whole incident of her arrest. It was particularly disturbing during Cecily’s testimony and cross-examination to see Judge Ronald Zweibel snickering to his assistant as Cecily gave answers to questions submitted by Choi. There were also 2 other ADA’s in the courtroom today giving their support to Choi and Strain, the two attorneys for the prosecution. One can only speculate how much of our tax-dollars are being spent on this case. At the end of the day while the attorneys were talking to the judge, the court officers forced all of the spectators out of the courtroom while court is in session - clearly a violation of our 6th Amendment Right to be present during a jury trial. The answer the court officer gave once told about a constitutional right was, “Go talk to your Congressman”. The closing arguments, jury deliberation and the verdict on this case will happen on Friday, May 2nd at 9:30am. 100 Centre St. Room 1116, Part 41.
