The Democratic Party and the Republican Party are the two major political parties in the American two party political system. The Constitution Party, the Green Party, and the Libertarian Party are the only minor political parties that are successful enough to be considered third parties. All of the other political parties that dot the political landscape are minor political parties. The American Solidarity Party is a minor political party. As members of the American Solidarity Party, we have to change this dynamic. The American Solidarity Party is ideologically suited to join rise from the ranks of the minor political parties and become a third party. The Constitution Party is conservative, the Green Party is liberal/progressive, and the Libertarian Party is libertarian. There is currently no political party occupying an ideologically communitarian position among the third parties. The American Solidarity Party is a communitarian political party. It is a perfect fit. I do not suggest that the goal of the American Solidarity Party should be to become a political third party. I am a pragmatist. The Democratic Party and the Republican Party are both broad-based political parties. They are both prone to political infighting between competing political ideologies and factions. Usually, this political infighting only hurts one of the major political parties at a time and the other major political party benefits from it. At some point, this political infighting is going to strike both major political party at the same time. When this happens, the third parties will benefit. In order for the American Solidarity Party to benefit, it must be in a position to benefit. In other words, the American Solidarity Party must be thought of as an alternative to the Democratic Party and the Republican Party. I believe that the American Solidarity Party must be the driving force behind a broad-based Christian Democratic political movement based inspired by social conservatism, Catholic social teaching, consistent life ethic, just war theory, and creation care. The American Solidarity Party must have friends in other political organizations. There should be Christian Democratic caucuses in both the Democratic Party and Republican Party. I would even suggest that in states where the American Solidarity Party is not on the ballot, but the Constitution Party is on the ballot, that Christian Democrats should look into the viability of seizing control of their political apparatus. This is politics after all. I believe that the American Solidarity Party has the potential to become a major force in American politics. In order to do so, it has to be in a position to participate in the American political process. The American Solidarity Party is not in such a position - yet. In order to get into that position, we must have a plan on how to get there. The American people need the American Solidarity Party to put itself into a position to lead.
