The Democrats merely *pose* as the party working in the interests of the vast majority, whereas in the end, their compromises are not compromises at all. They merely do what they were always intending to do from the outset. They are merely the good cop in a good cop/bad cop routine. The good cop pretends to be on your side, telling you that he, the cop, represents your real interests. But the good cop actually serves the same authority as the bad cop (the Republicans), which in this case is the ruling corporate and military imperialist elite.
