The Dental Extraction plus a selection of other works by .... Włodzimierz Szpinger, born in Warsaw in 1942. Graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts in Gdansk in 1972. His art falls into the category of easel painting, drawing, graphic arts, as well as watercolor painting and mixed techniques. During his travels, the artist studied classical Dutch and Italian painting; he now uses the techniques which he observed, verified and applied by former masters in the past ages, in his own oil works. Szpinger is fascinated with fairy-tales, and his painting is full of humor, anthropomorphisms and homo-forms. He renders subjects into the language of his painting. This is how he builds his original world. The artist expresses himself to the fullest through these grotesque and fictitious figures. He treats his painting as an area of metaphysical and philosophical notions, disclosed in the form of esthetics and beauty in their traditional meanings. These notions are articulated by the artist with classical methods, sensitive to their literary contents and accompanying emotions.
