The Department of Agriculture has released four ESCAS compliance - TopicsExpress

The Department of Agriculture has released four ESCAS compliance investigation reports concerning the treatment of Australian cattle in Vietnam, Jordan, Kuwait and Mauritius. In all four areas the department found instances of unauthorised movement of cattle outside approved facilities in addition to non-compliant handling and slaughter methods. To address these issues the department has implemented a range of measures including reduction of a Jordan supply chain, increased monitoring of supply chain performance through a supply chain officer and independent audit reports and monthly declarations from exporters. The Department has also released reports regarding two mortality events, citing inadequate ventilation as the most likely cause of the mortalities in both instances.
