The Detroit Tigers have officially traded Prince Fielder for Ian - TopicsExpress

The Detroit Tigers have officially traded Prince Fielder for Ian Kinsler of the Texas Rangers. We have Ian Kinsler for 4 years (with a 5th year option of 12million). It goes 16million 14, 16million 15, 13million 16, 11million 17. So, looking at all of it, the Tigers are going to be saving about 200 million from this trade. Thoughts? Im sad to see Prince go. The ways I would be happy about this trade: 1. Castellanos everyday starter at 3B, Kinsler at 2B, Ellsbury takes over LF. Lineup: 1. Ellsbury 2. Hunter 3. Cabrera 4. Martinez 5. Kinsler 6. Avila 7. Jackson 8. Castellanos 9. Iglesias Thats a lot of right-handed hitters, but thats a lot of great players. 2. Kinsler moves to 3B for the Tigers, Cano at 2B, Castellanos and Dirks platoon LF. 1. Kinsler 2. Hunter 3. Cano 4. Cabrera 5. Martinez 6. X - LF 7. Jackson 8. Avila 9. Iglesias Reports are coming in that Cano isnt moving from 30/mil a year, and with Prince gone, perhaps it would be worthwhile to invest in a long-term investment in Cano. We dont have a big left-handed hitter (except martinez, but hes switch..) If we grab Cano in free agency, I doubt well have room to get another impact player, which will harshly impact our bullpen. Tigers could also pursue Shin-Soo Choo, but DD has shown his disinterest in Asian players since he became a GM, so I doubt that will happen regardless.
