Paul introduces a different kind of righteousness. Previously he has described a righteousness of the Jew and Gentile that will bring them into the resurrection of the righteous. But here he reveals for the first time, a righteousness that is not earned. It comes the vilest sinner who believes. It is a righteousness that is given by grace to those who believe. The OT scriptures stand as witnesses in the new dispensation. Its not the righteousness of a man trying to do his best under the law. It’s the righteousness of God which comes to those who have faith in Jesus Christ and it comes to all and it is upon all those that believe. And there is no difference (between Jew and Gentile in this)
