The “Difference” between Michael Brown & Trayvon Martin, and - TopicsExpress

The “Difference” between Michael Brown & Trayvon Martin, and Ma-Hi-Vist Goodblanket! All three are tragedies. There are far too many young, unarmed, men of “Color” being shot by Police nowadays, that goes without saying… but my question is how come African-Americans always generate so much attention EVERY time one of theirs is involved in an incident… but when unarmed, 18 year old, Ma-Hi-Vist Goodblanket gets shot 7 times by Police… the Media doesn’t even cover it! When I watch those commercials for donations to feed starving kids in Africa, my heart breaks… for the starving kids right here in America. Why are White People so concerned with feeding starving Black kids in Africa, when we have starving Red kids (NATIVE to THIS continent) right here! Why? Because “the squeaky wheel gets the grease!” Black Americans are the “squeaky wheel”! The Native-American “wheel” isn’t “squeaky” enough! In fact, it isn’t “squeaky” at ALL! The truth is Blacks do a much better job of making their cause known, than Natives do! Even though, according to the 2010 US Census, “African-Americans” make up only 12.6% of the total US population, while “Native-Americans” make up nearly 10% (not counting un-CDIB-registered Natives)! That’s NOT a significant difference in numbers! And if we counted the non-registered Native Relatives, the percentage would easily exceed African-Americans! But for decades Blacks have bombarded Film, Television, and Radio with their message, and currently White People, particularly White Youth, are responding! Everywhere you look in this Country, whether it’s the magazines in the checkout line, the News, Movies & TV shows… 50 to 60% of the faces we see are Black! How many Red faces do we see on magazine covers? Maybe Graham Green or Wes Studi once in a blue moon… but only when they are being used to promote a new project! Make no mistake, I’m NOT criticizing African-Americans, I’m saying Native-Americans need to wake up, and take a lesson from African-Americans! Black America has spent years marketing their “Brand”, indoctrinating Whites, especially non-Indian American youth, and making them sympathetic to their cause. Every City in this country has a “Martin Luther King” Blvd! Where are the “Sitting Bull Blvds?” The “Red Cloud Blvds?” The “Crazy Horse Blvds?” (I’m not talking about Rez streets, I’m talking about major streets in NYC, LA, & Chicago!) And most MLK Blvds have a “Civil Rights Museum” somewhere along it, chronicling Black History from Slavery, through Civil Rights, up to today! Nearly every City also has a “Jewish Holocaust Museum”… so where are the much needed “Native-American Holocaust Museums”? And you can be damn sure there’s NO City out there with a team called the “Blackskins”! Plus every team called “The Negro (this) Team” and “The Negro (that) Team” (and there were a lot of them back in the day) all CHANGED their NAMES! Obviously, one of the main ways Blacks have indoctrinated American Youth, is by being at the forefront of Music development, basically, forever… always leading the way with the next new thing! From Slaves singing Gospel, to Vaudeville, to Jazz in the 20’s & 30’s, to Pop, Soul, R&B, and Hip-Hop now, Blacks have always been at the cutting edge of the Music industry. And Black Music, along with Black Movies like “Imitation of Life”, “In the Heat of the Night”, “Up the Down Staircase”, “The Color Purple”, “Glory”, and “Hustle & Flow”, has been the primary tool responsible for raising non-Black AWARENESS OF Black History and EMPATHY FOR the Black People! The Civil Rights movement and Sports have also raised awareness… but nothing compared to the overwhelming extent of the Music industry! You ask White college students about the Civil Rights movement, and they’ll know about Martin Luther King, and maybe the march on Selma, but that’s about it. You ask them about Sports, and they’ll know Shack, and LeBron, maybe a couple football receivers, or a NASCAR driver… but that’s about it. But you ask about Music, and they can, not only name every major Black artist, but they can also recite every lyric from a few dozen Raps! Ask them about the NDN Holocaust or Wounded Knee… they won’t have a clue what you’re talking about! Ask them about NDN Heroes, they’ll probably know Geronimo, or Crazy Horse, or Russell Means, maybe Sitting Bull… but ask them who Sitting Bull was… again they’ll have no clue! And I guarantee they’ve never even heard of Red Cloud, or Chief Joseph, or American Horse, or Black Elk, or Henry Crow Dog, or Leonard Crow Dog, or Clyde Bellecourt, or Dennis Banks, or Jim Thorpe, or dozens of other great NDN Heroes! Why? Because Native-Americans haven’t figured out how to “Brand” or “Market” their cause. I have some strong ideas about changing that… but that’s for another post. For now, just sit back and watch the “Black Public Relations Machine” work its magic. Observe it, study it, think about it, and then we need to put our heads together and brainstorm about how the “Red PR Machine”, and movements like AIM, Idle No More, Last Real Indians, and others can figure out a way to CRANK UP the VOLUME of the Native-American “Squeaky Wheel”!!!! …in the Spirit of Ta’šúŋke Wítko! Wa’wókiča yeló! (Lakota) “For the people!” JD ;{
