The Diocese of Idaho just posted this notice, asking people to offer housing to fellow Episcopalians who are evacuees from the Beaver Creek fire: As more parishioners of Emmanuel Church, Hailey, and St. Thomas, Sun Valley, face evacuation from the Beaver Creek Fire, hotels and motels as far as Salt Lake are full or filling fast. The diocese would like to ask for your help. Would you prayerfully consider your ability to house evacuees from these parishes? There is uncertainty about how broad this need will be, or for how long people will need assistance, but we would like to be prepared in case the situation changes quickly. If you feel that you can house evacuees from these parishes, please fill out the registration (click on the Register Now button, below) and let us know how many evacuees you can house, if you can house pets or not, if you can house small children, if you can accommodate people with special physical and dietary needs, etc. The Diocesan Center and Bishop Brian are monitoring the situation, and we are in close contact with the rectors of these two parishes. If you register to house evacuees, you will be matched with evacuees that fit your situation and then asked to be in direct contact with the evacuees to invite them to your home and make arrangements. Please continue to keep our Hailey and Sun Valley brothers and sisters in your thoughts as they face this anxious and challenging time.
