The District School Board of Pasco County approved an inter-local agreement with the Pasco County Sheriff’s Office on Tuesday for co-use of the district’s Health and Wellness Centers. “We are very excited about the partnership’s potential and that we are able to expand this very cost-effective, convenient health care program to also benefit the sheriff’s employees,” said Superintendent Kurt Browning. The district is adding additional space to the Land O’Lakes center and bringing a fifth center online in Wesley Chapel to provide the physical space needed for the increase in district staff utilization as well as the sheriff’s office staff. In addition, as part of the start-up, the sheriff’s office will have their own providers and a separate schedule for their employees to ensure that both the district and the sheriff’s office have enough appointment capacity to provide services to their respective employees. The sheriff’s office employees benefit by gaining access to the health and wellness centers, and the district benefits by sharing some of the fixed overhead costs associated with operating the centers. This agreement also represents the building of another bridge between local governmental agencies. The centers currently are located at Land O’ Lakes High School, Centennial Middle School in Dade City, Hudson High/Middle School, and near Gulf High School in New Port Richey.
