The Dobell Youth Advisory Committee met today to discuss ‘mental health in schools.’ Over lunch we had a very productive discussion about the factors impacting on our school students and what they would like to see in the way of support for mental health in schools. Our schooling years can often be some of our most stressful years and it is important that I hear firsthand from our youth how the Government is best placed to offer assistance. We were fortunate to have Helen from Headspace and Helen from Children & Young Peoples Mental Health as special guests. They were able to provide the students with some of the tools and resources available in schools to help deal with stress, anxiety and depression. I would particularly like to thank David Moore and Berkeley Vale High School for being tremendous hosts.
