The Drifters armada of drift boats were all on the river today - TopicsExpress

The Drifters armada of drift boats were all on the river today hunting down the first drift fish for 2015. Make sure you look at all the pics, we have another great drone shot. The morning bite was dismal; however it improved as the water warmed and the trout became more active. Once again we were greeted to single digit air temps at daybreak. Streamer fishing, & nymphing with attractor patterns got some nice fish to move. Don Grondin hit this nice male on a Kelley Bundy light Spruce-A-Bu with me. Nice fish Don, thanks buddy. Bako Boys Connor Husser & his dad Garth floated with Two Bug Doug Dolan getting into a late afternoon flurry bite that produced some nice browns & colorful bows. Doug Rodricks rowed Adam red cap Archiable & friend Tommy Maclean to a couple afternoon sugar holes. The two scored some nice rainbows using Spruce-A-Bus and Loebergs. Trout Dude Phil Therrien took veteran Drifters Gary & son Gary Runnels for some dip & strip fun The bite was much better in the afternoon for all of us. I dig these drone shots baby! Thanks GR, nice work. The Upper Owens has cleared of ice flows: however there is some sheet ice on the soft water pools, and very dirty water emanating from the flushing flows. Guide Joe Contaldi reports very slow fishing & heavy traffic today. I got a great report from Garrett Tracanna & Capn Jon Bell who fished the river and transition section at PV Reservoir today. They crushed the trout using crystal tiger midges. You may get flushing flows here was well if the LADWP deems it cold enough to purge the pipe of ice. See you on the water. be the fly...tom Website fish report, fly sales, & trip requests/gift certs at: sierradrifters/ You can purchase my flies locally at Reagans Sports in Bishop, The Crowley General Store (across from the lake).
