The E bola virus has created heavy blow on the Economic growth of both Liberia and Sierra Leone. It has crippled both countries mining sectors, which used to help resuscitate its economic growth. This has a damp on both countries agricultural and services sectors. The decline on boh countries economy affects the ordinary West African. Sierra Leone and Liberia as post war countries depend mainly on Mining and agriculture, with their fragile economy the effect of Ebola’s destruction would be immense to bear on with it higher inflation spreading like wild fire. The international financial aid trickling into the two countries is no match to the economic damage caused by Ebola. This in turn helps create significant financing gaps for the fiscal and external accounts of both Sierra Leone and Liberia and triggers higher inflation. The whole blame for this tragedy is being pushed on both countries political leaders for the wide spread of this killer disease. Some people blindly fail to realize that is just an epidemic and it comes with tragic destruction no one can escape from. Some of the financial aid channel through from Western countries are not in physical dollars, but based on logistics and medical supplies to help fight the disease. We do understand how poor the people of both counties are and how urgent they are in need of help to survive. It is left with everyone out there to have a major role to help whatever way is necessary. It is absolutely wrong to exploit the present situations for financial gains, while the ‘have not ‘are bearing the heavy burden. We know both countries are the poorest. As I always say both major political parties have to work together for the interest of their people and put the politics of division aside. Ebola as everybody knows create a great threat on both countries post war recovery. This disease has killed a lot of people, created a sharp decline on countries food production and mining sectors, as a result financial spending demands to fight the disease increases every day. Unfortunately both countries depend on mining and agriculture, now mining companies have scaled down their operations as expatriates depart their counties for fear of Ebola. This has an adverse effect in the various sectors of both countries’ economies. Today both countries are searching for help from the International community. Any tragic situations there are lessons to be learnt. Sierra Leone and Liberia have a lot to learn. GOOD DAY TO YOU ALL.
