The EMG and consult is done. Not nearly as bad as I had been told. Definitely an issue located in the nerve root not in soft tissue entrapment. Next stop the pain management clinic to do an injection of anesthesia and corticosteroids. IF that kills the pain, then they will proceed with an electrical ablation of the nerve to permanently block the pain. If, in the future the spinal foramina narrow further, then we will have to do surgery to actually remove bone. Making progress!
