The ET is reporting that the city council is finalizing the drafting of the budget for fiscal 2015 and will begin taking formal action at next weeks council meeting. Especially significant will be the impact of various proposals on our financial reserves, as well as the proposed tax rate. Whether it will elicit the same controversy this year as last remains to be seen. Btw, one newly-elected council member raised the question of the impact on the city should the council refuse to pay its share of the cost of the Bosque River Trail, given that projects alleged lack of popularity. The fact that anyone would seriously consider reneging on a municipal financial obligation is mind-boggling.
