The EU is a friend of the Republic of Ireland. The 2002 Fiscal - TopicsExpress

The EU is a friend of the Republic of Ireland. The 2002 Fiscal Treaty means we have to keep our structural deficit below 0.5% of GDP and bring our debt to GDP ratio down to 60% of GDP. That will prevent Fianna Fail style big spending and the buying of votes and other corruption practices that undermine democracy. EU is promoting new legislation to ban short selling, the sort of stuff that Goldman Sachs and other financial houses were doing in the run up of the 2008 financial meltdown. EU wants a financial transaction tax which will deter bankers from taking risky bets with your money. EU wants a cap on bankers bonuses. Ask yourself who is it who wants us to leave the EU/Eurozone?
