The Earth’s magnetic field is attracted by the Sun’s magnetic - TopicsExpress

The Earth’s magnetic field is attracted by the Sun’s magnetic field. The attraction will continue until the strength of the Earth’s field and the Sun’s field become identical. At that point the two fields will be aligned, thus maximizing the repelling force. In other words, at a certain distance the repelling force will be maximized between the two fields. But still the two fields are linked together even when the repelling force is maximized. This is what prevents the Earth from advancing all the way to the Sun and colliding with it. This mechanism of magnetic fields is exactly the same with the electron in the atom. In fact, it is universal arrangement of matter in the cosmos.
