The East Anglian Patriots (a group derived from or similar to) the EDL will be holding a demonstration on 8 July against the building of a mosque in Lincoln (for which planning permission has been granted). There are plenty of arguments why it is sensible and important to oppose racism. One of many is the fact that Lincoln tremendously benefits financially and culturally form the University which in turn benefits from having international students and tutors. This is why it is crucial that people from other cultures feel comfortable and welcome here. Otherwise they will choose other more civilised places to study and work. It is not the most important argument against racism but it is specific to Lincoln and shows that real East Anglian patriots, if they really love Lincoln City, should fight against xenophobia and racism. Info from the Lincoln Trades Council: “The Lincoln Trades Council is organising a counter-demonstration on the same day from 1 to 3 on Cornhill Market (behind Speakers Corner) and the Branch Committee and the Trades Council invite everyone to attend the rally to stand up for tolerance and mutual respect, and against racism, discrimination and intimidation.
