The Elmwood Park Police Department is asking motorists to join in a day long effort known as “Put the Brakes on Fatalities Day” on Thursday, October 10, 2013, which is designed to increase awareness about safe driving behaviors and keep the State’s roadways fatality free. Put the Brakes on Fatalities Day not only raises awareness about the individual responsibility we have for our driving behaviors, but also engages drivers in making positive changes behind the wheel every day of the year. The Elmwood Park Police Department would like to remind drivers to obey posted speed limit signs, stop for pedestrians in crosswalks, drive sober, watch out for motorcyclists and bicyclists, do not text or talk on cell phones while driving, make sure all occupants of your vehicle are wearing seatbelts and to drive safely. For more information on Put the Brakes on Fatalities Day, visit the website brakesonfatalities.org.
