The Emergency Executive Council meeting concluded with rather - TopicsExpress

The Emergency Executive Council meeting concluded with rather vague and disappointing resolutions. The resolutions were conveyed to the students. There was no promise of concrete action on ANY issue raised by the students. For example, police picketing on campus is the result of an interim High Court judgement and it is highly debatable whether the EC, or the university authority can do anything about this arbitrarily. It could have ended at that. But the EC very strangely came to the conclusion that such picketing is congenial(?) for operational purposes. At least we can avoid such phrasing? The VC left long ago, apparently because he did not want crucial decisions to be taken in his presence as this would have compromised its neutrality(media report). The Registrar conveyed his message to the students that he will call up the office of the Education Minister first thing in the morning, as he is reading in media reports that the Education Minister is willing to talk to the students. He said he will try to confirm the specific modalities of the meeting, if it indeed takes place. My question: EC ran for 5 hours and started at around 3. As the Registrar is well aware of the willingness of the Education Minister, and keeping the urgency of the situation in mind, surely this could have been done today, before 5? There is an informal talk scheduled tomorrow (according to the authority) at 4:00 pm between the students and the university authority. But the authority is hardly expecting any concrete outcome of that talk. Their moral lassitude is perhaps more depressing than their professional laziness. Still no solution in sight. Friends are raising slogans on an empty stomach. Its 48 hours and counting. https://facebook/somak.mukherjee.1/posts/798302543589514?pnref=story
