The End of the Peace & Love Generation The 60’s was a decade full of music and love all over the world. The youth stood for peace in a time when war was underway. With music festivals like Monterrey and Woodstock dominating the music scene as the decade came to a close, one last festival was underway. The Rolling Stones decided to hold a free concert at the Altamont Speedway to bring their fans together for a day filled with music and celebration. The infamous rock concert featured Jefferson Airplane, Santana, Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young, and the Rolling Stones, who hire Hell’s Angels instead of cops for security. This resulted in the deaths of four people in the crowd of 300,000. Unfortunately tragedy struck making this last festival of the 60’s, thus the true end of the Peace & Love Generation.
