The Enochs Care Center was designed with our students and teachers in mind; because academic rigor without intervention support is unethical (Anthony Muhammad paraphrased)! I had an inspirational and overwhelming visit to Stagg High School in Stockton yesterday to tour their health center which opened in 1996 and is a thriving place to this day! I was inspired by the resourceful ideas I walked away with and overwhelmed by the enormity of what lies before us. I have made a new addition to my professional network, the coordinator from Stagg, Judy, who has been notified that she is on speed dial as we continue to roll out services through the Enochs Care Center. Today we held interviews for the new clerical support person who will work in the Enochs Care Center, I was happy to find many qualified candidates and I look forward to this next step in our journey together. The Article below outlines what some district and states are doing to adopt the UCLA framework that we have based the Enochs Care Center on. The framework states that it is imperative to develop a third leg of support in education (Administration, Instruction, Interventions) to prevent and attend to the barriers to learning. We are creating a cultural shift for all students at Enochs High School. Our teachers are embracing student engagement strategies and taking risk to do something new and different in their classrooms. What a joy it is to be the Principal of such outstanding educators, who believe in their collective ability, their school and their colleagues to become their own personal best each and every day!
