The Epstein family asked The Beatles to stay away from Brians funeral in Liverpool so that there would be no media frenzy. George sent a poignant sunflower as a symbol ~ the sunflower follows the course of the sun and that is what he hoped for Brian. The Beatles did attend the Ceremony for Brian in London and then to Pauls credit he tried to hold things together for them all. The result was the Magical Mystery Tour :-) The story goes that The Beatles had kept the white tail suits for the Your Mother Should Know sequence a complete secret and when they appeared at the top of those stairs there was a collective gasp :-) i think George was devastatingly Georgeous in this sequence ... Some people dont like it ~ personally i think it was a superb piece of pre Python looniness. Apparently, Steven Spielberg is one of its fans and the film is now shown to film students. It was broadcast in the UK on Boxing Day in black and white after the Queens speech :-) It was their first apparent failure and coming when it did must have caused quite a lot of unhappiness.
