The Equality and Human Rights Commission is launching a major - TopicsExpress

The Equality and Human Rights Commission is launching a major call for evidence tomorrow, Thursday 14 August, to collect first hand experiences from individuals and organisations about how their religion or belief may have affected them in the workplace and in using the services and facilities they need in everyday life. The experiences of individuals within the trans community are very important to us. For example, we have heard from an individual who regularly attended church for many years and was ostracised after she transitioned. We would therefore be very grateful for your help to promote the call for evidence to ensure we capture a broad range of responses, because this evidence base will help shape and inform our future work. Our webpage will be live at 12 noon on Thursday, August 14th, so we ask you not to send anything out before this time as people will get a ‘page not found’ message. It will remain open for 2 months until mid-October. I have attached our: • Press release (embargoed until 12 noon Thursday 14 August) • Article on the project • Tweets (please feel free to amend to incorporate language that will best suit those who follow your account) It would be really helpful if you would ‘tag’ us into your Twitter/Facebook content so we can monitor uptake and discussions, as well as direct people to the EHRC website so that we can monitor visits. Our landing page (equalityhumanrights/religion) will direct people to an external site where the questionnaires are hosted (we are working with NatCen, a major research organisation on this project). This is a major project for the Commission and the experiences and views that we collect will help shape and inform our future work. Your assistance in helping us to reach as many people as possible will therefore be invaluable. If you wish to discuss anything, please call on my direct line below kind Regards, Angela Brierley Project Officer 0161 829 8422
